2032 hot rod development

Hi All,

My blog hasn't been getting much of my attention lately so here's an update to fix that. Last Friday I posted another FREE Tutorial Friday to my You Tube channel sharing the development of my 2032 hot rod project. Here are some of the WIP images from that video and project. Modeling and rendering is happening in MODO.

Check out the video here.

The bright red, slightly weathered one and the carbon fiber one just below it are the latest versions.

FREE Tutorial Fridays...now number 38 + new book + Taiwan workshops

I've been swamped finishing the "How to Draw" book and so my blog has had no updates for far too long. As well as finishing the book I've been posting one FREE tutorial every Friday to my You Tube channel, check it out and help spread the word. Heading out to Asia for the next 3 weeks this Friday. I'll be hosting and teaching a series of workshops in Taiwan under the SRW-Asia brand. Come see us there if you are near there.

Back to work on the book!

footwear digital sketches

I just recently turned my design attention towards designing footwear and here are 20 teaser examples of my quick "upper" sketches. These are of course developed with different tools than traditional media sketches but due to the speed I can generate them and the often loose gestural nature they end up having they are technically just sketches even though they are photo-real. Used as a means to stimulate new aesthetic directions I think the are pretty fun. So fun in fact that I did 700+ of them last week.

A few higher resolution

Here are 11 of the 114 sketches I did while on the East coast the last couple of weeks. I was asked if I would share some of them at a higher resolution than what I was able to do via my iPhone with Instagram last week. By the way the largest sketch, in the upper left, on this page measures ~4" in width within my sketchbook. These are all ballpoint pen sketches. Some with a Copic marker T-0 block-in to get me started. I hope you enjoy them.

render time

I had to take a break from all the sketching and throw down some value on one of them. Done in Photoshop.

a bunch of fresh new sketches!

This week as I've been here on the East coast I've had time to work on new content for my "How to Draw" book. I've been sharing these new marker and pen sketches via my Instagram account (scoro5) and then onto my FB page. Next week when back in LA I'll scan a few pages from my sketchbook and post them here at a higher resolution. In the meantime if you are interested you can see the sketches in this FB photo album.
